Due to the region’s cooler climate the Yarra Valley produces exceptional sparkling, chardonnay, pinot and cabernet sauvignon wine varietals. With a large array of producers offering incredible food and wine experiences, the Yarra Valley is perfect for travellers seeking outstanding dining and breath-taking scenery.
For early risers, take a morning hot air balloon flight above the region, soaking in the incredible scenery at sunrise. For lovers of wildlife and families, there is also the option to visit the Healesville Sanctuary , getting up close and personal to their unique collection of native Australian animals.
With copious walking trails in the Dandenong Ranges and hidden delights to be found all throughout the region, the Yarra Valley is a fantastic destination to include in your journey throughout Australia.
Victoria typically experiences four distinct seasons however, some days can see all seasons occur on the one day.
In summer (December to February) the days are often warm with plenty of sunshine. The average temperature ranges between 14 – 25.3°C (57.2 – 77.5°F), and can often see temperatures reach beyond 30°C (86°F). Winter (June to August) temperatures often drop significantly, ranging between 6.5 – 14.2°C (43.7 – 57.6°F). Snow fall can even be seen in the state’s north-east.
In the autumn (March to May) and spring (September to November), daily temperatures sit between 19.6 – 20.3°C (49.3 – 68.5°F) and the days are typically very pleasant. The state also comes alive with colour due to the changing seasons.
